A piece of rope some 6 yards in length is tied between the backs of two chairs. The performer cuts the rope in the middle. The two rope ends fall free onto the floor. The performer picks up the ends and ties them together.

Now the performer seizes the knot and slides it along the rope toward the left-hand chair. He stops a couple of feet from the chair and unties the knot at this new position! Two pieces of rope are seen…one in each hand.

Retying the knot, the performer slides it to the right side chair and stopping just short of the chair he again unties the knot and separates the rope! To finish the performer again ties the rope ends together. He slides the knot to the center of the rope. He then covers the knot with both hands and by stroking the rope makes the knot disappear! The rope is completely restored!
