It’s visual, magical, and simple to do. It requires no set-up, and you can learn to do it in five minutes. And it will fool and entertain your audiences! Show an artist’s sketch pad. As you flip through the pages, you point out that you’ve drawn a different face on each page. Funny faces. Happy faces. Puzzled faces. Goofy faces. And each page is precut into three segments to create a flip-book, where you can come up with lots of combinations and colors by flipping to different pages.

You show them how they can pick out the top of a head from one picture. Then, flip through the middle strips to find a nose from another picture. Then, flip through the pages to find a chin. This gives you dozens of different combinations and creates some comical pictures. Hand an envelope to a spectator, and tell them that you’ll open it in a few minutes. Then, flip through the first strips until a spectator tells you to stop. You’ve got the top of the head. Then, a second spectator selects a middle section by the same method. And finally, as you flip through the bottom strips, a third spectator tells you when to stop. You’ve created a unique and funny picture with the help of the audience.

Ask the spectator to open the envelope you gave him earlier. And–yes, it’s true–he pulls out a picture, which matches perfectly the audience’s selection! This is strong, visual magic, which gets the audience involved. Great for close-up or stage.
